Well, I got a bug last night and wanted to shoot some more nighttime photography. I just LOVE long-shutter photography. I think it is beautiful, crisp, clean, and I like all the details.
Here are three photos I shot last night around midnight. One of of a green building that I don’t know the name of, one is of CityPlace and one is a panorama shot at the corner of Woodall Rogers and Pearl. I shot three photos to create the panorama and stitched them together in Photoshop. I would have taken more photos like another one on the left and right to make an even bigger panorama, but a cop (not a security guard, a cop!) walked up and told me I couldn’t shoot anymore. I have had this happen to me pretty much EVERY time I go out and shoot at night, which makes no sense to me because I am always shooting from a bridge or a sidewalk where I am completely safe and not interfering with anyone, yet I am told to move along. Weird. Anyway, here are the pics! I think I might print the panorama.
Photos are shot on a Canon 40D, Canon 24-70 f/2.8L lens, ISO100, 30second shutter, range of f/11 to f/13, Auto WB
Here is an stylized version (star field added) of the panorama to fit 24″ iMac desktop backgrounds (1920×1200)

This is AWESOME!
Thanks. If you guys know any good places to shoot other views of Dallas like this them lemme know. I posted an ad on Craiglist to see if anyone with roof access on a skyscraper or security guard even that will let me shoot from the top of their building.
A wonderful article…. In my life, I have never seen a man be so selfless in helping others around him to get along and get working. I feel good that there are people like you too. Thanks for this great weblog of yours. Its surely going to get me to go to higher places!
Good post! I plan to move into this stuff after I’m done with school, as most of it is time consuming. It’s a great post to reference back to. My blog needs more time to gain in popularity anyway.
