Ok, so for some reason, this past weekend, I loaded up on movies…I think accidentally, I watched like 10 in one weekend, and here are the ones that stood out.
Death Sentence (5/5!): This was easily the highlight of the weekend. Sounds great huh? DEATH!…well, anyway, maybe I am just partial to Kevin Bacon (anything he is in is worth watching), but overall it was a good movie…good power struggle, good hero conflict, great plot development, excellent casting. Dare I say this movie is in my Top 10? Hmm, perhaps…lemme give it time to simmer in my brain.
The Happening (4/5): awesome movie, extrememly original, not overdone or overacted, very realistic in terms of how nature could attack humanity. So passive, yet so powerful; I liked it.
Speed Racer (1/5): This movie was worthless. This was like Curious George on acid, with some car racing thrown in…seriously, what’s up with the 1,000 stupid monkey scenes?
The Mummy III (2/5): First, they didn’t use Rachel Weisz for the Evie character, so that lost it some watchability, and Jet Li became a super cheesy mummy. It was too campy and not dark enough. If you are going to make a movie with “mummy” in the title, then I wanna see some really dark scenes (metaphorically speaking), not happy cheeky jokes the whole time.
The Invasion (3/5): This was a pretty well done movie. Good acting, unique premise, which is hard to do these days with so many ‘alien invasion’ type movies out there. I liked it…nothing to write home about, but I guess good enough to write a blog about, ha.
X-Files: I Want To Believe (4/5): The only reason I don’t give this a 5/5 is because it should have come out a lot sooner! I mean, they waited like 10years between the first and second movie. I love this series, and this is definitely a good movie for fans of the show. If you have never seen the X-Files, then I can imagine it would just be “ok”.
So, that’s it for now…I watched a few others, but they weren’t good enough (or bad enough) to make this list I guess.
